28 of them. highway. not bad for a 26 year old suv. no drafting, and averaging 60-65.

methinks I can do better with an electric fan/waterpump & 4-piece bellypan.

I had managed to achieve nearly 24mpg on a 1-hour highway trip with a Ford Explorer 4.0 from work. Then my colleague took the wheel, and it dropped to 18...

Funny thing is, I just realized that the V8 explorer from those years actually gets better mpg on the highway (20 vs. 18).

that was a 250 mile trip from boerne to Pasadena. and yea, the bigger engine doesn't have to work as hard. the duke downright refuses to work hard. the hampsters must have a union in there.
